Hi in_threaders…
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a workflow for screen recording and audio settings that would work on a MacBook Pro M1. I am trying to screen recorder live coding Sonic Pi sessions with narration. I have used OBS with some success but I am a bit clumsy with it. I find that i have to keep configuring audio settings (not set and forget)… i.e. desktop audio or record a window, or application, the set audio output/input etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hi
it’s been a while since I was on OSX, but I recall doing screen recordings with audio, sending audio output from SPi via Soundflower to Audacity, then disabling audio recording within Screen Recorder. Added narration later via mic input to my soundcard (I cannot recall the name of my video editing software, sorry). But it depends entirely on your own hardware setup of course.

Ah, yes… Soundflower is now BlackHole. I have configured a 2ch multi-output in midi audio settings which allows me access to audio via OBS. However, I still find that I have to keep tweaking settings. I think trying to put audio via Audacity could be worth a try (instead of BlackHole). Thank you

Apologies, am keen but basic
Eventually got it working with CMD+Shift+5 as the screencapture.
Thanks for this thread, v useful learning. Hope the Google link works.
Hi… rebel
Thank you for the heads-up… I’ve had a quick try … cmd, shift +5… screen records beautifully although no audio especially after loading Sonic and running my code. I did set audio to BlackHole (previously SoundFlower) but didn’t get any further. I’ll try a bit more experimenting with my midi audio setup also. I haven’t accessed your audio setup link due to access permissions so I have just sent a request. Thank you so much for helping out.

Hi Altan, glad the screencast recording worked.
I’ve activated your request, but can anyone please explain how to upload docs here? It’s a couple pages so don’t want to paste in.
Thank you!
Hi Rebel…
I’m not sure how/if uploading docs here is possible. However, if not, some people post material to a gitHub account and allow access to docs via their gitHub account. Perhaps worth considering. Thanks again for you help :)

…Jules,
I locate your doc. Thank you for sharing. I’ll “explore” for sure. All the best.
