Hello from Montpellier, France

Hi there !

I’m a software developer and amateur musician, one of my coworker introduced me to sonic-pi a few months ago, I got hooked ! I’ve been coding and playing music, mostly bass and guitar, for more than 30 years now. Finally I found something that suits me for experimenting with electro and playing instruments on top of it.

At first I used sonic-pi to play jazz standards chord progressions, so that I could play themes and improvise over it. Then I made a couple compositions mixing sonic-pi and instrument loops, one somewhat ambient and the other one jungle-ish. The code for each piece is linked in the description.

I’m using a RC-30 looper, and a linux box with hydrogen and audacity in addition to sonic-pi. My process works, but I find it a bit cumbersome, how do you guys do ?

Perpignan, le centre du Monde ! I’m wondering if there’s enough of a community in our area for algoraves or other live coding events to happen here ?

I honestly wouldn’t know… I’m very new to making music…
But if you hear of something, let me know!
