I used to go to music school when I was little, and I loved to make up new melodies on the spot, just sitting at my piano and trying various notes until I would find some combination that would stick. Later on however I couldn’t play at my piano as much, and also wanted to make use of my computer to make music. All the complicated DAWs, expensive equipment and the fact many of those weren’t very accessible to somebody using a screen reader almost made me give up on the thought of making music. At the time I got into programming, and I remember thinking how cool it would be if I could just write some instructions to a program that would play the music I want. If it could handle all the trouble with handling synths, effects, samples, and just expose a simple text interface to control those features I could focus on making music. I discovered sonic pi and the whole live coding scene, and thanks to them rediscovered my passion for music.
I don’t know how to call the music I made so far, and I’m constantly thinking of completely different things to do. I think it’s best I leave my sound cloud profile and let you judge for yourself.
