I want to be able to install only the server, so I can send OSC messages to it using VScode. I have SuperCollider installed/running already.
What would be the necessary steps to build/run the server only?

for the future, this discussion is best suited for Github as an issue:
As a short answer, there is no immediate support for just building the server - this is something you’d have to figure out yourself. The easiest way to do this is to build everything and then just extract the server parts of the build tree.
