My :loop_amen sounds way too low + slow — what did I mess up?

Hey everyone! :waving_hand:

I’ve been running into a strange issue with Sonic Pi on my MacBook Air (M1, 2020).

Whenever I play

sample :loop_amen

it sounds way lower, slower, and bass-heavy than usual .. almost like a synth or FX layer got applied to it. Even when I open a clean workspace or reinstall Sonic Pi, the sound stays the same.

I’ve tried stopping all threads and quitting the app completely, but no luck so far. :smiling_face_with_tear: I’ve attached an audio sample of what it sounds like from my end.

Any ideas what might be causing this or how to fully reset Sonic Pi’s audio settings? Thanks in advance for any help! :folded_hands:

Hi,

I think a similar issue popped up a few months back, I can’t find it on the forum, I think it was in relation to Bluetooth headphones. The audio card settings in prefs/Audio aren’t adjustable from within Sonic Pi, that would be done in the audio hardware settings. Any pitch inaccuracies may result from mismatched sample rate values, but that’s not the case here. Sorry not to have a solution

Hey Brendan,

Thanks for getting back to me on this! I restarted my laptop and left it for a few days and everything’s back to normal now. Like what you said, it might be the case with Bluetooth head/earphones as the loops got distorted after disconnecting my airpods…
