Introduction - Ben

Good Day Sonic-Pilots!!
I’m a very long time lurker and Aaron-fan (since Meta-eX days) finally got around to jumping back into some coding, tinkering and general noodling about.

My current ‘setup’ - possibly a strong word for it, is:

  • A Korg nanokontrol that I got from a carboot sale many years ago
  • 8x8 monome that I have egregiously under-used (until now hopefully)
  • PO-14 Sub from Teenage Engineering
  • PO-16 Factory from the same
  • Family computer Mac Mini
  • experimenting with some OSC-touch things

Looking forward to talking/sharing/playing all things Sonic-Pi with you all!

All the best
Ben

Welcome!
Tell me more about the monome – does it support aftertouch? Is it similar to the linnstrument?

Hi Harry,
Thanks for the welcome - I will have to admit I had to google what “aftertouch” was - I think the Monome I have, which is pretty old, 100% does not.

It is basically an 8x8 array of backlit buttons - that can be configured to send OSC messages to Sonic Pi - one on a press event and one when the button is released - along with the coordinates of the button that was pressed.

How and what you do with the messages is completely controlled in the Sonic Pi code - so state tracking when how the LEDs are lit all com from the code.

Hope this answers your question.

All the Best

Thanks for the skinny.
I have an obsession with MPE controllers. They are so much more expressive than normal midi controllers.
But they cost! Ouch!
