I’ve been using Sonic Pi for quite awhile but was somehow unaware of this group.
I write/compose/experiment with all types of music and find SP is the most creatively invigorating environment in which to work. And as a retired software developer, the coding aspect fulfills my frequent programming needs.
My primary interest in Sonic Pi is for ambient music. I am intrigued by generative processes that yield musically appealing results. I have experimented with other software such as Chuck, Max, and Supercollider, but SP is much more fun.
My other music interest is traditional piano composition, but I haven’t found a good way to work that into Sonic Pi. Admittedly I haven’t tried too hard since I am mostly tied to notation software for that work.
