I’m interested to know how you’ve found it.
I’ve tested it between Sonic Pi and VCV Rack 2 on the same Windows PC, using the following Rack plugin:
However, I’m getting what seem like periodic dropouts at around roughly twice a second (haven’t measured accurately, only by ear) so a continuous sine tone from Rack sounds like a series of long beeps in Sonic Pi.
My testing parameters so far:
- Rack on ASIO4ALL at 48 kHz, Sonic Pi on a Focusrite USB 2 output
- The Sonic Pi panel status stays on “Dropout”
- A steady tone when monitoring Rack directly and when running Sonic Pi’s own synth
- Periodic dropout at about 2 Hz that doesn’t change with Link tempo, Rack block size (256 all the way up to 2048) or Sonic Pi link buffer size
This would seemingly point towards the issue not being with the apps’ basic sound output themselves, but either the plugin or Sonic Pi’s new Link audio streaming code.
