Ever wondered what a particular genre sounds like?

Wonder no more: an absolutely amazing tool I found out about for exploring just about every musical style you’ve probably ever heard of*, and then some!

Oh now this is just what I need… I can listen to almost anything, because my only
criteria is ‘like/don’t like’. I find it very very difficult to put stuff into labelled boxes, so this
will help.

Another great resource, nice! Thanks @nlb :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Late reply here, but the most comprehensive interactive map of musical genres I’ve ever come across is https://www.musicmap.info/. If you need 10 recent examples of the often-overlooked Schlager genre, want to know what the rhythmic differences are between Bakersfield Country and Nashville Country, or can’t remember the name of the genre that bridged the relationship between Mento and Ska (it’s Bluebeat) — and have a LOT of spare time to get sucked into a web site — then this is the site for you.

(Full disclosure: they’re missing the African Palmwine Guitar genre, so who knows what else they missed. But they still have a lot.)
