I’ve been playing music most of my life, though always as a hobbyist. Played with a number of software music systems but have always been especially impressed with Sam’s work since first seeing Overtone.
Systems like PureData and Chuck were really fun, but have always left me scratching my head at how to build something that feels more “musical” like what you’d get from a tracker system or a commercial DAW-type system.
I $work as an SRE at Elastic, and also play trombone and banjo though somewhat poorly given my limited practice time while helping take care of 3 small kids.
